Dalhart Community Profile and Membership Directory The Dallam-Hartley County Library hosts a bi-weekly story time as well as summer reading programs for youth, and provides computers for public use. The Dalhart Country Club, (806) 244-5596, is located on Highway 54 West. This private country club offers an attractive 18-hole golf course, pro shop, meeting rooms and catering services. There is a restaurant on-site, along with an outdoor swimming pool and concessions. The Dalhart Bowl, (806) 249-6316, on Highway 54 West, provides lane after lane of bowling fun with its new state-of-the-art computer bowling system. The Dalhart Bowl hosts league tournament for serious participants and hosts parties for birthdays or groups. The XIT Rodeo and Reunion takes place the first Thursday, Friday and Saturday of each August. The event originated when ranch hands from the XIT decided to get together to swap stories and rodeo. Now, the three-day festival features a free chicken wing feed, free pork chop feed, and the world’s largest free barbecue feeds 20,000 people the best, most tender brisket you have ever tasted with the traditional fixin’s of beans, bread, pickles and applesauce on Saturday afternoon. Each night the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association is center stage and evening dances feature some famed entertainers. Other activities included a large street parade, Fiddler’s Contest, Antique Tractor Show, XIT Mud Bogs, Arts & Crafts Show and the LaRita Theatre Melodrama. Proceeds from the Community Development Fund The Annual XIT Rodeo & Reunion Celebration boasts many activities to be enjoyed by all, including help organizations like the Dalhart Chamber provide some fun free events Rodeo, Dances, free feeds, Fiddlers Contest and more... for the community. The VISIT DALHART’S MONUMENTS AND museum has a gift shop and a chapel where many weddings take place. Taste the pioneer way of life at period exhibits including farming and MEMORIALS ranching displays. The most unique features at the museum include their Dalhart’s Empty Sadle Monument is located north of the Highway 87 local wildlife exhibit and the cheese making exhibit that demonstrates the underpass.
